69 students won the National Mathematics Olympiad

 



This time there was no event in the national event. 
There was no hustle and bustle of the students with maths, no race or celebration of victory. This year's National Mathematics Olympiad was completely different. From start to finish the whole thing has been online. However, the interest of students in mathematics has not diminished.

The closing episode of Dutch-Bangla Bank-Prothom Alo Maths Festival 2021 was on Tuesday. The winners of the Olympiad were announced at a ceremony held online at around 3 pm. Of these, 15 were in the primary category, 20 in the junior category, 30 in the secondary category and 24 in the higher secondary. This information was revealed in a report published in Prothom Alo on Tuesday (April 20).

Arib Noman, a student of Apple League International School in the primary category, Junaid Rafi, a student of Adamjee Cantonment Public School in the junior category, SMA Naherian, a student of Samsul Haq Khan College and College Hossain Khan. The Mathematics Club of Netrokona Mathematics and Science Organization of Netrokona (Mason) has been honored as the best math club.

This year's Olympiad was registered online from February 21 to March 10 this year. A total of 35,282 students from all over the country registered. The first step with these students is the online selection math Olympiad on March 12. 31 thousand 835 students took part in it. 16 thousand 154 students were selected in another stage from the selection Olympiad. The online Regional Mathematics Olympiad was held on March 26 with them.

1,296 students passed the regional Olympiad. The online National Mathematics Olympiad 2021 was held with them on April 10.

Due to the corona infection, all the events of this year's Maths Olympiad were held online in the last consecutive year. There are registration, sorting, regional and national episodes. The names of the winners of the national episode were announced today.

Before announcing the names of the winners in the final round, there was talk of merit. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mohammad Kaikobad said, “Bangladeshi students are doing well enough in international math sessions. We need to focus on how to improve our skills from home without being afraid of corona or traveling outside. This time must be used.

At the beginning of his speech, Brother Leo Pereira, Principal of St. Joseph's High School, recalled Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and Principal Brother Robbie Purification of St. Joseph. He said, 'I wish their souls eternal well-being. The Maths Olympiad used to be the same, the last two years have been different because of Corona. Hope cannot be lost at this time. We have to play our respective roles. Crisis does not stop life.

The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee organized the 19th National Mathematical Festival under the auspices of Dutch-Bangla Bank and managed by Prothom Alo.

Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, vice-president of the Mathematics Olympiad Committee, said, “We want students to have more love for mathematics. If you love math, thinking is different. Then the competition is with yourself. '

Mahbub Majumder, coach of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad team, said, “The students of this country have done well in the Mathematical International Olympiad last year as well. Hope to do it again this year. For the first time this year, Bangladeshi girls took part in the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad and won a bronze and a silver medal. If the girls are brought in front, they will also be able to. '

A math camp will be organized later with these 69 winners of the national episode. Based on the results of the camp, six students will be selected to take part in the 72nd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) to be held in Russia in July this year.
